New York City has been hit hard by a wintry mix today and it makes me long for more days like this:
I basically lived in that floppy hat in Cabo all week. Since I had taken an antibiotic for a few days I was really nervous about being out in the sun and this was a very cute way of protecting myself. I could seriously sit on that deck by the infinity pool for…infinity. (Get it get it)
There is just something about the ocean which I find so calming. I am lucky enough to have parents who still enjoy vacationing with their children. My sister and I are both in our twenties and I’m so grateful that I still get to tag along. This year we had a fifth person tagging along, my sister’s boyfriend. After this vacation Sister’s BF will be forever known as the “puppy person.” You know how puppies are always jumping around happily and excited to see you? He woke up so excited every morning and marveled at every mountain and sunset. I’ve known him for years, but this was by far the most time we’ve ever spent together and I must admit it was great to have him around. He humored me by posing for this picture:
Yes, he’s fanning Sister with a magazine. Yes, I made him do it. Also please enjoy the gorgeous view from the pool.
I also did plenty of activities after a couple days of solid rest in the sun. We drove up to Ceritos, the famous surfing beach about 40 minutes north of Cabo, to attempt to hang ten.
I was actually pretty good this year.
Sisters BF wasn’t half bad either.
After surfing for a couple of hours and enjoying the hippies and their dogs we drove to Todos Santos, home of the famous Hotel California. It’s a very bohemian artsy town with ton of galleries. I usually buy a small print every year and this year I chose a gorgeous sunset to hang in my apartment by my favorite artist Jill Logan. How cute is this pup? He was howling every time a wave came.
After a delicious lunch of tortilla soup we made the hour drive along the stunning Pacific coast back to Cabo for some much needed down time. Here are all the surfers together. Notice how my board is the longest. The longer the board the more stable it is. That being said, it was hard to maneuver on my own.
Surfing makes me feel really powerful and badass. I highly recommend it on your next vacation. Oh and it’s a killer workout too.
