The Seven Block Curse…

Yesterday the rain got the best of me.  The wind gusts murdered not one, but two umbrellas.  I’ve learned my lesson that buying cheap umbrellas is simply not worth it.  Last night I was walking home from my friend D’s apartment around 11pm.  The wind was whipping around like crazy and it was pouring.  I decided to try and catch my Dad before his flight to San Francisco so I’m holding my phone and attempting to hold onto my umbrella.  A particularly strong gust came and my umbrella flew out of my hand and broke against the side of a building three blocks from my apartment.  Now the really fun part began.  Walking the rest of the way home in the downpour.  I walked into my apartment soaking wet feeling defeated.

I woke up this morning to news of the devastation in Japan and the Tsunami warning for the West Coast (and hysteria from my Sister).  This resulted in many texts to my parents (who are completely safe in San Francisco) and a nervous, upset stomach.  Just thinking about the earthquake makes me feel sick.  I have a fear of large waves stemming from a tumble I took in the ocean in the Hamptons a few years ago.  I was banged up and it was one of the scariest moments of my life.  I hope everyone’s loved ones are safe!
