So, where to begin. Oh right, dinner on Friday night. Here’s the famous picture that Chuck Bass rudely refused to take:
Here’s a much better one:
I’m always awkwardly crunching down in the front. That’s the price I pay for being short apparently. So we headed uptown to Jacques-Amos for some traditional Southern cuisine. We shared appetizers like Alligator Cheesecake, which was on of the most surprisingly wonderful things to touch my taste buds and fried chicken. They made a mean margherita too, so needless to say this dinner was big on laughs…and booze…and deep fried food. It was totally worth the bloat-y aftermath.
The evening continued with us bopping in and out of several bars along Bourbon, happily toting our drinks with us. You see, in New Orleans you can carry open container of alcohol all over the place. It made it far easier to slowly sip those frozen drinks. We somehow found ourselves up on one of the famous balconies looking down on the craziness below.
After Fridays day of sightseeing, Saturday called for relaxing by the pool. The pool, although small, quickly became the place to be. There were Bloody Mary’s and Champagne galore. It was a fantastic way to spend a hot, humid, New Orleans day.
It was in this very pool somewhere between noon and 5pm that I spotted my second celebrity of the weekend. Ben C from the Bachelorette. Okay okay, he’s not exactly a “celebrity.” But, he was oh so charming and adorable. He lives in New Orleans and apparently likes to crash hotel pools on the weekends. My bestie bachelorette and I grilled him on all things Ashley, Chris Harrison, and that ridiculous mansion. He was so sweet and just a total babe.
I could not stop talking about him for the rest of the weekend. Fast forward a few hours (and a long nap) later and we headed to dinner at the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel. Their restaurant Domenica, was gorgeous. We had a private room, which gave us ample space to toast and torture our Bachelorette. Since I basically live to make toasts and I just love Jamie (and her fiancé Brett) so much, I just had to say something.
We ate, drank, and played some fun games. Then we had a surprise appearance. Ben C and friends stopped by to say Hi. We had told him where we were having dinner and it turns out he planned to be dining there as well. It was such a fun treat.
That picture (he’s on the right) doesn’t do him justice.
The night got even better right around midnight when bestie JV turned 27! Jamie had arranged for a little birthday surprise for her. She was so exited!
Here’s all the lovely ladies on Saturday evening:
Back to Bourbon we went, although this evening only took us to one bar, THE BEACH! We danced the night away, literally. The best decisions are made after a night of dancing/drinking, right? We, along with out new best friends from Chicago, decided to jump in the hotel pool at 4am. Need proof?
Here we are, in our dresses, and jewelry.
Jamie, I love you enough to jump in the pool anytime! I cant wait to walk down the aisle (and hopefully not trip) at your wedding!!!
