Ask A Dude: The Cold, Hard Truth

This week’s Ask A Dude questions deal with bars and late nights:

1. Why would a guy spend an entire evening talking to a girl, buy her
drinks, and never mention he have a girlfriend?  After spending a certain
amount of time talking to someone isn't the interest implied?

Well, I don't know why a guy with a girlfriend would buy another girl drinks unless he plans on cheating. I would even argue that merely buying drinks for another girl is border line cheating. Perhaps that is where his line is - he will buy you drinks, but he won't ask you back to his place. I would bet that if you asked him to your place, he would have gone, though. Guys don't buy girls drinks unless they want something!!

2.  Why would a guy ask for a girls' phone number and not follow through?

Because some guys think with their dick and not with their brain. When a guy asks a girl back to his place and she says no, he will start spewing more BS than a politician in a sex scandal. Throw alcohol in the mix and guys will say anything and do anything to get a pretty girl back to his place. If a guy met a girl at a bar and said "Want to come back to my place to hook up and then not speak again?", I don't think he would be very successful. So instead of being honest, guys that aren't interested in a relationship need to "trick" girls into thinking they are. That is why they would ask for a phone number and not call - because they think that this will "trick" her enough into thinking he is genuine and go back to his place with him. (This is something I am not proud of, but it is the truth.)

“Rusty” had the opportunity to ask me/us a question and here’s what he’s been wondering about:

If you meet a guy and you're attracted to him, why won't you go back to his place with him? Why deprive yourself of fun? I DON'T GET IT!!!!

Here’s my response:

Even if I'm attracted to someone, at this point I'd rather go on a few dates, get to know them a little better, and then assuming all goes well, see the inside of their apartment. Going back to someone's' apartment at 3am seems like the fastest way to never hear from them again.

What do y’all think?
